The invention relates to the technical field of livestock breeding, in particular to a molecular breeding method aiming at body size characters and application of the molecular breeding method. The molecular breeding method comprises the following steps: evaluating the breeding capability of pigs by simultaneously adopting growth shapes, breeding traits and body size traits; the body size characters comprise the body length and the body height; the growth traits comprise day age and backfat thickness, and the reproduction traits comprise total litter size. According to the present invention, the body size type character is incorporated into the existing breeding pig genome selection molecular breeding scheme, the genetic evaluation results of the body size type character and the growth and reproduction character are integrated, the breeding ability of the pig is evaluated, and the breeding method is further applied to breeding of the breeding pig so as to obtain the breeding method for evaluating the breeding ability of the pig; the method is of great significance to breeding of large boars in the future.
