The present invention relates to a negative electrode active material (10) for a battery, the negative electrode active material comprising: a negative electrode active material core material (1); and a coating film (2) formed on the surface of the negative electrode active material core material (1), the coating film (2) being an organic-inorganic hybrid coating film comprising a reactant containing at least: a first metal alkoxide that does not contain a metal atom-carbon atom bond in one molecule; and a second metal alkoxide containing two or more metal atom-carbon atom bonds in one molecule.
