In order to extend the area in which a mobile handset can determine its position using radio waves, the present invention provides a mobile handset equipped with a device for calculating its position using radio waves transmitted from GPS satellites and using a base station of a cellular communication system A device that calculates the position of an incoming RF carrier wave. The positioning results obtained from the two position computing devices are then combined and weighted using GPS positioning reliability and cellular positioning reliability, respectively.
