Embodiment Construction

[0040] Based on the incorporation of external references, the present application incorporates all the disclosures in the corresponding foreign priority document (Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 2003-339118 ) from which the present application claims priority.

[0041] Referring now to the drawings, wherein like reference numerals designate corresponding structures throughout, and in particular to FIG. 1 , a schematic diagram illustrates a preferred embodiment of a system for archiving, processing and transmitting imaging data according to the present invention. The system comprises a first control unit 1 for controlling a medical imaging device such as a computed tomography (CT) scanning device 14, a second control unit 2 for handling various tasks, a third control unit 3 for controlling View terminal or console 33 and a network 4 such as a local area network (LAN), as well as an internal network and / or the Internet to which the control units 1 , 2 , 3 described above are connec...

Abstract

Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) fully optimizes post-scan order processing for further processing a selected set of imaging data that has been processed by medical devices such as CT scanning devices and MRI scanning devices according to user-defined priorities. Imaging devices collect and store in distributed storage units on the network. User-defined priorities include minimum response time, minimum cost, and minimum network traffic. User-defined priorities are arbitrary in some preferred embodiments.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to medical imaging, and more particularly to systems, software, methods and apparatus for substantially optimizing post-scan order processing in picture archiving and communication systems (PACS). Background technique [0002] In recent years, computer technology has brought advanced uses of computer systems to hospitals and clinics. In most large hospitals, a hospital information system has been installed. Also, medical imaging devices including x-ray computed tomography (CT) scanning devices, positron emission CT scanning devices, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) devices, and digital X-ray devices have been widely used. [0003] Although imaging devices are widely used, image data stored in many institutions is not managed by computer systems. Medical images are still viewed on traditional hard copy media such as film. For conventional medical image management, the following issues are relevant. It usually ...
