Abstract

The invention is a portable traffic information acquisition system, which consists of PDA and GPS receiver. The PDA sets up a database and interface to inter-communicate with computer. The GPS and PDA are inter-connected. PDA gets roads basic attribute information from computer, then PDA automatically generate electronic survey sheets for field data collection according to the information. PDA as a handheld device is taken to the scene for data collection. The collected traffic information inputs to the database in PDA directly, meanwhile GPS receiver transmits the scene position information to PDA.
