Low pH Blue Binary Color Deposit Study
[0305]A test swatch of 90% gray hair from IHIP, International Hair Importers, (1 cm width, 15 cm length) was dyed with 20 g of the mixture of the below dye composition mixed 1:1 with L'Oreal Majicreme™ 20 volume developer. The pH of the final mixture was adjusted to 6.5 using NaOH.
IngredientsExample 1DI WaterQ.S.Oleamidopropyl Dimethylamine2.0%PPG-5 Ceteth-2011.0% Oleth-10 Phosphate2.0%Mineral Oil1.0%N,N-Bis (2-hydroxyethyl) p-1.47% phenylenediamine Sulfate2,4-Diaminophenoxyethanol HCl1.205%
[0306]A control swatch was dyed with the mixture of Redken Shades EQ™ clear, containing the same dyes at same levels as above, mixed 1:1 with Redken Shades EQ™ Processing solution. The pH of the final mixture was adjusted to 6.5 using NaOH.
[0307]Both swatches were processed for 20 minutes at RT, rinsed for 1 minute (80 gph, 32° C.), and dried. L*a*b* values were measured before and after coloring using Konica Minolta Spectrophotometer.
[0308]The final ΔL valu...

High pH Blue Binary Color Deposit Study
[0309]A test swatch of IHIP 90% gray hair (1 cm width, 15 cm length) was dyed with 20 g of the mixture of the below dye composition mixed 1:1 with L'Oreal Majicreme™ 20 volume developer. The pH of the final mixture was adjusted to 9.5 using NaOH.
IngredientsExample 2DI WaterQ.S.Oleamidopropyl Dimethylamine2.0%PPG-5 Ceteth-2011.0% Oleth-10 Phosphate2.0%Mineral Oil1.0%N,N-Bis (2-hydroxyethyl) p-1.47% phenylenediamine Sulfate2,4-Diaminophenoxyethanol HCl1.205%
[0310]A control swatch was dyed with the mixture of L'Oreal Preference™ base containing the same dyes at same levels as above, mixed 1:1 with L'Oreal Preference™ 20 volume developer. The pH of the final mixture was adjusted to 9.5 using NaOH.
[0311]Both swatches were processed for 20 minutes at RT, rinsed for 1 minute (80 gph, 32° C.), and dried. L*a*b* values were measured before and after coloring using Konica Minolta Spectrophotometer.

Wet Combing Study
[0313]Six untreated IHIP regular bleached hair swatches (1 inch width, 5.5 inch length) were measured for Energy Break (the energy needed to comb through the whole hair swatch), using the Instron wet combing machine. The swatches were then dyed with 15 g of the mixture of the below dye composition mixed 1:1 with L'Oreal Preference™ 20 volume developer.
IngredientsExample 3DI WaterQ.SOleamidopropyl Dimethylamine2.5%PPG-5 Ceteth-2016.0% Oleth-10 Phosphate0.5%Mineral Oil1.0%Resorcinol0.550% p-phenylenediamine0.540%
[0314]The dyed swatches were measured wet for final Energy Break reading. The average Energy break readings of the untreated and the dyed swatches were 537.40 and 237.58 g-in, respectively. These values are statistically significant. The average percent change in combing is −48.93, therefore the hair is about 49% smoother than before coloring. Thus, the inventive formula gives a better conditioning to the hair.
