702 results about "Narrow range" patented technology

Narrow Range N-Day pattern is defined as the narrowest range from high to low of any N-day period relative to any N-day period within the previous 20 market days (Look_Back). In the sensitivity test, we research the size of the narrow range (N) and look back period (Look_Back). N = [2, 19], Step = 1;

Measurement method using solar simulator

This invention provides a solar simulator measurement method capable of high-accuracy measurements with fast-response photovoltaic devices as well as with slow-response photovoltaic devices, and a solar simulator for implementing the method. A flash having a pulse wave form with a flattened peak is generated from a xenon lamp 1. The flash is sensed by an irradiance detector 3, its irradiance measured, and the irradiance of the light source is adjusted to fall within a prescribed narrow range based on the detected irradiance value. Then, the flash with irradiance within the prescribed range irradiates photovoltaic devices 4 under measurement, and the current and the voltage output by the photovoltaic devices 4 are measured at multiple points while a load of the photovoltaic devices 4 is controlled. This process is repeated with multiple flashes to obtain an I-V curve for the photovoltaic devices.

The pH of the composition is in the range of about 9 to about 11.5, and the remainder of the solution is water. The composition has low amounts of metal ions, and the composition is used for thinning, polishing and planarizing interlayer dielectric thin films, shallow trench isolation structures, and isolation of gate structures. The invention also comprises methods for using the planarization composition in the manufacture of semiconductor devices.

Liquid to liquid biological particle concentrator

A rapid one-pass liquid filtration system efficiently concentrates biological particles that are suspended in liquid from a dilute feed suspension. A sample concentrate or retentate suspension is retained while eliminating the separated fluid in a separate flow stream. Suspended biological particles include such materials as proteins / toxins, viruses, DNA, and / or bacteria in the size range of approximately 0.001 micron to 20 microns diameter. Concentration of these particles is advantageous for detection of target particles in a dilute suspension, because concentrating them into a small volume makes them easier to detect. Additional concentration stages may be added in “cascade” fashion, in order to concentrate particles below the size cut of each preceding stage remaining in the separated fluid in a concentrated sample suspension. This process can also be used to create a “band-pass” concentration for concentration of a particular target size particle within a narrow range.

Method and apparatus for facilitating physiological coherence and autonomic balance

Method and apparatus for determining the state of entrainment between biological systems which exhibit oscillatory behavior such as heart rhythms, respiration, blood pressure waves and low frequency brain waves based on a determination of heart rate variability (HRV) and an evaluation of the power spectrum thereof. Entrainment reflects a harmonious balance between the two branches of the autonomic nervous system within the body. This internal state of heightened physiological efficiency enhances health and promotes optimal performance. According to one embodiment a method is used to determine the entrainment level based on an entrainment parameter related to HRV, The method first determines the power distribution spectrum (PSD) and then calculates an entrainment parameter (EP), which is a measure of the power distribution in the HRV spectrum. High EP values occur when this power is concentrated within a relatively narrow range of frequencies, and lower values when the power is distributed over a broader range of frequencies. In one embodiment, an apparatus is provided for monitoring the heart beat and presenting this information via a personal computer, handheld device, or other processing means.

Removing siloxanes from a gas stream using a mineral based adsorption media

A plurality of different layers of filter media are used to remove siloxanes from a gas stream. Based on an analysis of the specific gas stream to be filtered, a filter media having an average pore size enabling the preferential removal of a specific class of contaminants is selected for each different class of contaminants. The layers are arranged in sequential order such that contaminants having a higher molecular weight are preferentially removed by the first layers. Collectively, the layers define a segmented activity gradient that enables each class of contaminants present in the gas stream to be preferentially removed in a different layer, preventing removal competition between different classes of contaminants. Preferable adsorption media exhibit a relatively narrow range of pore sizes. Both inorganic adsorption media and carbon-based adsorption media exhibiting a relatively narrow range of pore sizes can be used.

Analog transmitter using an external cavity laser (ECL)

The present invention relates to an analog transmitter using an external cavity laser (ECL) in which specific characteristics of the ECL are enhanced and exploited to improve 2nd and 3rd order distortion while increasing the threshold for the occurrence of deleterious stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS). The performance of the ECL shows a substantial reduction in distortion occurring over certain narrow ranges of operating temperatures. Optical, electronic, thermal and / or mechanical methods are described that cause this “distortion dip” to be moved to, or created at, stable regions of ECL operation, away from mode hops. Methods are also described that allow the distortion dip to be moved to, or created at, ECL operating regions in which sufficiently high chirp occurs, thereby reducing SBS. Transmitters and other devices employing these and related techniques are also described.

In a tunable duplexer combining a tunable filter with a canceler, calibration for optimizing passband characteristics and stop band characteristics is accelerated, and the deterioration of performance due to variations is highly accurately compensated. The tunable filter is calibrated to acquire isolation characteristics, and then coarse calibration and fine calibration are performed on the canceler. In coarse calibration, the use band of the tunable filter is set to a suppression band, and the isolation characteristics of the canceler are acquired. An amplitude, a phase, and a bias voltage are adjusted based on a result of comparison with the acquired isolation characteristics of the tunable filter for determining an approximate convergence. Fine calibration is further performed, and the optimum point is determined in a narrow range near the convergence.

Echo detector having correlator with preprocessing

An echo detector correlates between an incoming signal an echo signal to determine echo delay. A preprocesssor extracts a characteristic pattern such as a binary pattern derived by thresholding an averaged power of each signal. This pattern is down sampled then used for the correlation, and delay is deduced from peaks in the correlation. Advantages include reduced computational load, or larger correlation window size, because the characteristic pattern is easier to correlate. The quantising can enhance the correlation peaks, and the averaging can limit the number of transitions, to give more robustness to noise. An echo canceller has a coarse echo delay estimator and a fine echo delay estimator. The coarse estimated delay is used to adjust a delay detection range of a fine delay detector having a narrow range. The output of the fine detector is used to adjust or suppress the adaptive echo canceller.

Obtaining tandem mass spectrometry data for multiple parent ions in an ion population

This invention relates to tandem mass spectrometry and, in particular, to tandem mass spectrometry using a linear ion trap and a time of flight detector to collect mass spectra to form a MS / MS experiment. The accepted standard is to store and mass analyze precursor ions in the ion trap before ejecting the ions axially to a collision cell for fragmentation before mass analysis of the fragments in the time of flight detector. This invention makes use of orthogonal ejection of ions with a narrow range of m / z values to produce a ribbon beam of ions that are injected into the collision cell. The shape of this beam and the high energy of the ions are accommodated by using a planar design of collision cell. Ions are retained in the ion trap during ejection so that successive narrow ranges may be stepped through consecutively to cover all precursor ions of interest.
