A user friendly interface and system is provided for allowing users to place video or other multimedia on a personal website space. Users can record video directly to a central server without having to record the video locally on their computer and then upload the file via file transfer protocol. Alternatively, users can upload video files in any format and codecs located on the server automatically convert the original format into a common format so that all users will be able to view the video.
