Abstract

A flow control method of packet data units (PDU) in a high-speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) network includes three steps. Firstly, while buffering a PDU received from a radio network controller (RNC), a node (Node B) sends the buffered PDU to the user equipment (UE); secondly, the Node B judges the buffered data quantity, if the data quantity reaches the set upper limit data quantity, then the Node B notifies the RNC to lower the transmission rate of PDUs, and if the data quantity reaches the set lower limit data quantity, then the Node B notifies the RNC to raise the transmission rate ofPDUs; finally, according to the notification, the RNC adjusts the transmission rate of PDUs and sends PDUs to the Node B according to the transmission rate. The upper and lower limit data quantities not only can be derived according to the transmission rate and jitter of a Un interface between the Node B and the UE and the feedback delay of an Iub interface between the Node B and the RNC but alsocan be directly configured by the system according to specific conditions.
