Abstract

The invention discloses a charging system and a charging circuit for batteries, as well as a method for controlling charging of the battery. The battery charging system comprises a charging switch for conducting charging current to the battery, a first and a second amplifiers coupled to the charging switch. The first amplifier is used for regulating the charging current according to the power consumption of the charging switch. The second amplifier is used for regulating the charging current according to the voltage of the battery. When the voltage of the battery is less than the predetermined voltage threshold, the charging current through the charging switch is regulated by the first amplifier, so that the power consumption of the charging switch is maintained constant. When the voltageof the battery is larger than the predetermined voltage threshold, the charging current through the charging switch is regulated by the second amplifier, so that the voltage of the battery is maintained constant. Compared with the prior art, during the entire charging process, overheating phenomenon will not occur in the battery charging system even if the difference between the charging power voltage and the battery voltage is relatively large, so that the charging efficiency is improved.
