The invention discloses an Internet protocol television (IPTV), a method and a system for implementing an IPTV value added service, a set top box (STB) and a remote controller. The method comprises the following steps that: the STB initiates a hyper text transport protocol (HTTP) request to an IPTV value-added application server so as to acquire value-added application service information; the IPTV value-added application server forwards the HTTP request to a third-party content provider; the third-party content provider returns a value-added application information file to the STB; and the STB analyzes the value-added application information, then displays the value-added application information to a user to select, and initiates the HTTP request to the IPTV value-added application server according to the selection of the user so as to acquire the detail information of the value-added application; the IPTV value-added application server forwards the request of the user to the third-party content provider; the third-party content provider returns the detail information file of the value-added application to the STB; and the STB controls the IPTV to display the detail information of the IPTV value-added application. Compared with the prior art, the embodiment of the invention expands the conventional functions of the IPTV and makes the IPTV have more user individuation and functional diversity.
