1427 results about "Value-added service" patented technology

A value-added service (VAS) is a popular telecommunications industry term for non-core services, or, in short, all services beyond standard voice calls and fax transmissions. However, it can be used in any service industry, for services available at little or no cost, to promote their primary business. In the telecommunications industry, on a conceptual level, value-added services add value to the standard service offering, spurring subscribers to use their phone more and allowing the operator to drive up their ARPU. For mobile phones, technologies like SMS, MMS and data access were historically usually considered value-added services, but in recent years SMS, MMS and data access have more and more become core services, and VAS therefore has begun to exclude those services.

System and method for providing value-added services (VAS) in an integrated telecommunications network using session initiation protocol (SIP)

A system and method for providing Value-Added Services (VAS) in an integrated telecommunications network having a packet-switched network portion (PSN) operable with Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). The integrated telecommunications network includes a SIPext SSP server, a trigger server, and a service node having a Service Logic Program (SLP) that is operable with Intelligent Network Application Protocol (INAP). The SIPext SSP and service nodes are provided with the capability to communicate using SIP-compliant messaging. New header fields are provided that specify operations to be performed by the service node with respect to a service. INAP service parametric data is also provided in the header fields in a sequential form. When a call is received in the SIPext SSP server for a user having a subscription for a VAS, it queries the user profile stored in the trigger server. If the user is subscribed for a service, a SIP request message is formulated based on the user profile, wherein appropriate headers are populated with relevant parametric information and call context data. The service node launches the SLP based on the information provided in the request message and sends a SIP response message to the SIPext SSP server with an instruction concerning the provisioning of the VAS. The SIPext SSP server, thereafter, takes an appropriate action based on the response message and any parametric information contained therein.

Method and system for multi-dimensional analysis of message service data

The invention discloses a method and a system for making multi-dimensional analysis to message class service data. The steps of the invention comprise a data collection step and a data integration step; a data conversion and loading module is responsible for converting the data in a middle database into a relational database with star framework characteristic, settles various data to be analyzed of message class service, classifies the data with common or similar characteristics and brings the data into a unified dimension hierachy; the data in the middle database is further cleaned and converted to be processed into another multi-dimensional database; and a data analysis and presentation step is included. The corresponding system comprises a data collection module which is independently arranged, the data conversion and loading module and a data analysis and presentation module. With the invention, the multi-dimensional data model can be shared in similar value-added service system, the development cycle and cost of the system can be reduced. To apply the function of multi-dimensional data analysis possessed by the system established by the model can provide operators and equipment manufacturers with more flexible and convenient data statistic method and decision support.

Method of billing a communication session conducted over a computer network

A method of billing a communication session between a user and a value-added service. A request is received from a user for a communication session, such as a circuit-switched call, a computer-network telephony call or a multimedia session, between the user and a value-added service. Information associated with a credit account is requested before the user is connected to the value-added service. The information associated with the credit account, such as credit card information, debit card information or checking account information, is received in real time. Credit account information, which includes the received information associated with the credit account and a predetermined amount that is to be charged to the credit account, is communicated to a payment authorization database, which can be located locally or remotely. Alternatively, the credit account information includes the received information associated with the credit account and a predetermined amount that is to be set aside in the credit account for the communication session. Payment authorization information associated with the credit account is received from the remote site before the user is connected to the value-added service. The user is connected to the value-added service when the payment authorization information is affirmative. A total charge for the communication session that is based on an actual time that the user is connected to the value-added service is calculated when the communication session is terminated. Lastly, session charge information associated with the communication session is transmitted to the remote site when the communication session is terminated, the session charge information including information for charging the credit account an amount representing a charge for the communication session.

System and method for providing supplementary services (SS) in an integrated telecommunications network

A system and method of service provisioning in an integrated telecommunications network having a packet-switched network portion (PSN) and a circuit-switched network (CSN) portion with a gateway disposed therebetween. A service node comprising a Service Control Point (SCP), a Service Data Point (SDP), or both, is provided with an interface operable with the PSN portion. A first entity (e.g., served entity) is capable of accessing the service node for the purpose of invoking a service. A return result from the service node is provided, based on the decision of what action is to be taken with respect to the service request, to the first entity which then determines how the action is to be effectuated. An indication is thereafter provided by the first entity to a second entity (e.g., re-routing entity) preferably using H.450.X messages. In response, the second entity (i.e., re-routing or switching entity) takes an appropriate service action based on the return result obtained from the service node. In a presently preferred exemplary embodiment, legacy service nodes built on the basis of WIN/IN service architecture are utilized for the provisioning of Value-Added Services (VAS) or Supplementary Services (SS) in VoIP networks operable with the H.450.X Recommendations.

Mobile SNS communication system based on address book of mobile phone and operating method thereof

The invention provides a mobile SNS (social networking services) communication system based on the address book of a mobile phone and an operating method thereof. The mobile SNS communication system comprises the internet, the mobile network, computer communication terminals and/or mobile communication terminals provided with client-end software function modules and a mobile SNS platform providedwith a communication module, a subscriber request processing module, a subscriber information storage module, a subscriber security/privacy strategy module, a subscriber information management moduleand a value-added services/application module. The mobile SNS communication system adopts the operating mode of servers and clients among the mobile SNS platform and the two terminals, so that the terminal can select and perform various operations after registering and logging in the mobile SNS platform, while the mobile SNS platform can map the operations onto subscriber operating equipment or the mobile communication terminals or the computer communication terminals of other related subscribers, so as to complete the corresponding functions. Based on the address book of the mobile phone, theinvention serves various functions, such as information management, value-added services/convent services and the like, in addition to the traditional SNS functions, so as to enrich the spiritual life of the public.
