Abstract

The invention discloses a personal computer capable of backing up startup data, which is used for backing up an authentication password and a desktop management interface program of a basic input / output system. The personal computer comprises a flash memory, a south bridge chip set and a processing unit, wherein the flash memory is provided with the basic input / output system, the authentication password, the desktop management interface program and a check program; the south bridge chip set comprises a data backup unit; the data backup unit records a restoration program, the authentication password and the desktop management interface program; during the startup of the personal computer, the processing unit operates the check program; if the authentication password or the desktop management interface program in the flash memory is not consistent with that in the data backup unit, the processing unit operates the restoration program; and the authentication password and the desktop management interface program stored by the data backup unit are over-written to the flash memory.
