Embodiment 1-4

[0088] The following are non-limiting examples of sunscreen compositions according to the invention.

[0089]

[0090] The various formulations in the examples were first prepared by blending the various ingredients of Phase A in a suitable container. In a separate suitable container, combine the ingredients of Phase B. While mixing the phases using a suitable mixer (eg anchor paddle, propeller paddle, IKA T25), heat the phases to 73-78°C until each is at temperature and homogeneous. While continuing to mix Phase A, slowly add Phase B to Phase A. Continue mixing until the batch is homogeneous. Pour the product into a suitable container at 73-78°C and store at room temperature. Also as the temperature dropped, continuing to stir the mixture resulted in low observed hardness values at 21°C and 33°C.

Embodiment 5

[0092] A series of comparative experiments were performed to illustrate various aspects of the invention. These experiments were based on tests of the formulations listed in Table I.

[0094]

[0095] program:

[0096] 1. Add phase A to the main beaker. Heat to 80°C with mixing. Cool to 55-60°C.

[0097] 2. Heat phase B (oil phase) to 80°C in a side beaker.

[0098] 3. Add phase C (JTTO-MS7) to phase B, and then use a homogenizer to disperse (guard plate down, 40 rpm, 5 minutes).

[0099] 4. Add Phase D, Phase G and Premix H to Phase B / C while mixing. Cool phases B / C / D / G / H to 55-60°C.

[0100] 7. Transfer the main beaker to the homogenizer. Add phase B / C / D / G / H to the main beaker (Phase A) with homogenization. Shield down, homogenize for 1 min at 40 rpm.

[0101] 9. Transfer back to the paddle mixer.

[0102] 10. Add phase J at 45°C. Continue to mix.

[0103] 11. Premix phase K and add at 40°C. Continue to mix.

[0104] 12. Add phase L at 40°C. Con...

Abstract

A cosmetic composition is provided which includes composite particles of a sunscreen agent and a condensation polymerized polyamide binder, a water-insoluble powdered polymer of porous particles having an Oil Absorbance (castor oil) Value ranging from 90 to 500 ml / 100 gm, and a cosmetically acceptable carrier. The composition exhibits an excellent soft focus property to hide skin imperfections, and retains relatively high SPF photoprotection.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to cosmetic sunscreen compositions providing UV protection and soft focus properties. Background technique [0002] Ultraviolet radiation can damage the skin. The immediate damage is in the form of redness of the skin. More long-term is the problem of triggering cancerous growths. For these reasons, photoprotective agents known as sunscreens have been introduced into cosmetic products. [0003] Facial cosmetics are ideal not only to provide photoprotection but also to improve the overall skin appearance. Most people have facial imperfections. These can include uneven tone, large pores, fine lines and wrinkles. [0004] Soft focus is an effect that hides imperfections in the skin. Incident light is distorted by scattering (lensing). The particle components of cosmetics work like lenses, bending and twisting light in all directions. [0005] US 5 997 890 (Sine et al), US 5 972 359 (Sine et al), and US 6 174 533 B1 (S...
