Abstract

The invention provides a sport board for use on a snow surface and having a running surface on the bottom of the board which provides improved steering and directional control of the sport board, when used by a seated rider, or a standing rider. In one embodiment, the sport board has an arcuate bottom with an arcuate series of alternating ridges and grooves. In the first embodiment, the ridges and grooves in the central portion of the sport board are aligned so as to be essentially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the board. In the second embodiment, a flat planar bottom is provided, and the smaller number of large ridges provides better control. By use of either approach, however, turning and cornering of the board is more controllable than in prior art devices. In a preferred embodiment, the top surface of the sport board is fitted with a foot straps or a flexible or rigid handle, which allows the board to be easily convertible from a sport board configuration to a snowboard configuration.
