The invention discloses a detection device and method for stream mode particle, including a sample preparing container, a sheath liquid preparing container, a flowing chamber, an accomodating container, a first constant current power source and a pressure monitoring device, the sample preparing container is connected to the flowing chamber via a sample conveying pipe, the sheath liquid preparing container is connected to the flowing chamber via a sheath liquid conveying pipe, the outlet of the flowing chamber is connected to a detecting pipe, the sample to be detected is driven by power to be delivered to the flowing chamber via the sample conveying pipe, the first constant current power source is connected to the sheath liquid conveying pipe and drives the sheath liquid to be conveyed to the flowing chamber via the sheath liquid conveying pipe. The sheath liquid is driven by the constant current power source, thus obviating the need of gas source device, reducing cost and facilitating miniaturization; by real time monitoring the pressure of the flowing chamber, regular flow or abnormal flow can be judged, to prevent risk of breakage of the detecting pipe caused by abnormal increase of pressure, and avoid biological pollution.
