Background technique [0001] There are many kinds of ice makers for refrigerating appliances and refrigerating appliances applying them, especially domestic refrigerating appliances, which differ significantly in their technical complexity and the convenience they provide to users. In the simplest example, an ice maker is a simple tray with multiple compartments, and to make ice, the compartments are filled with water and the tray is placed in the freezer. This solution is very economical, but has many inconveniences for the user. The flat shape of the tray makes water splashing very likely if the tray is filled outside the freezer and then carried to the freezer. A horizontal surface on which the tray can be placed in the freezer is generally not available and must therefore be obtained by removing surrounding chilled items.
