The method comprises the following steps of: 1, acquiring highway video images according to a set step length through video acquisition equipment by using a detection system, and transmitting video signals to a video incident detector; 2, outputting road traffic incidents (comprising parking, queuing, speeding, running in the wrong direction, and the like) and traffic parameters (comprising traffic flow, vehicle speed, vehicle types and the like) by performing processing in three steps by using the video incident detector; and 3, analytically processing the incidents, namely performing incident analytical processing in a way of combining vehicle tracking detection and incident algorithm detection by using the detection system, wherein the vehicle tracking detection is used for analytically processing highway incidents by the road traffic incidents output by the incident detector, the incident algorithm detection is used for analytically processing the highway incidents by the road traffic parameters output by the incident detector, and an accurate detection effect can be achieved by the comprehensive comparison of the vehicle tracking detection and the incident algorithm detection.
