Embodiment Construction

[0040] see figure 1 , an ophthalmic iontophoretic system comprising an iontophoretic device comprising an active electrode 10, a reservoir 20 (in this device defined as a hollow body 21 inside an outer wall 24) and a passive electrode 40 and a power supply 300 , the tail 70 and at least one active substance 30 contained in the medium 35 stored in the reservoir 20, the passive electrode 40 allows current to circulate through the patient's body, and the power supply 300 delivers DC to the electrodes 10 and 40.

[0041] A power source 300 for generating a potential difference may be housed in the ophthalmic iontophoresis device, or alternatively may be connected to the ophthalmic iontophoresis device via conventional electrical conductors 60 . The preferred energy supply does not exceed 20mA / cm 2 , preferably no more than 10mA / cm 2 A low voltage constant direct current (depending on the surface of the instrument) used to create a potential difference.

Abstract

The present invention relates to an ocular iontophoresis device, and especially relates to an ocular iontophoresis device for delivering active substances to an eyeball. The cular iontophoresis device includes: an active electrode; and a reservoir having an inlet and an outlet which respectively have the diameter, wherein the diameter of the inlet is greater than the diameter of the outlet, wherein the outlet defines an application surface intended to receive a determine part of an eyeball surface, wherein the area 'Se' of the active electrode is greater than the area 'Sa' of the application surface, therefore, the increased electric field intensity is provided with a numerical value in proportion to a ratio of 'Se / Sa'.

Description

[0001] This application is a divisional application of an invention patent application. The application date of the parent application is November 29, 2006, the application number is 200680044453.8 (PCT / IB2006 / 004191), and the invention name is "ophthalmic iontophoresis device" . technical field [0002] The present invention relates to the delivery of pharmaceutical agents to ocular tissue by iontophoresis. [0003] Ophthalmic iontophoresis generally consists in applying an electric field to active substances in order to direct them (once ionized) to defined target ocular tissues. For this purpose, a first electrode, the so-called "active" electrode, applies an electric field to a conductive medium containing an active principle placed near the eye, a second electrode, the so-called "passive" electrode, Acts as a return electrode, allowing the circuit to circulate through the patient's body. [0004] Iontophoresis is thus a non-invasive technique that overcomes the shortcom...
