Abstract

The invention discloses a method and device for monitoring high speed shared control channel (HS-SCCH) in a radio communication system. In the invention, current state has to be determined first, and corresponding monitoring process is carried out according to the state determined. wherein the current state is any one of a null state, an active state, a inactive state and a discontinuous receiving state, monitoring is not conducted under the null state, monitoring is conducted under the active state and the inactive state, and the discontinuous monitoring is conducted under the discontinuous receiving state according to discontinuous receiving parameters. According to the invention, the UE power consumption with low on-line requirement for a long time is lowered. On the other hand, frequently starting up an inactive timer is prevented.
