Abstract

A method for implementing a packet switch domain short message service (SMS) comprises: after receiving a request message sent by a user equipment and containing an SMS-only indication, a mobile management entity enquiring subscription information of the user equipment from a home subscriber server, and receiving the subscription information of the user equipment returned by the home subscriber server; and when the mobile management entity supports a packet switch domain short message service and the subscription information supports the packet switch domain short message service, the mobile management entity sending a request acceptance message to the user equipment, a short message service being received and sent between the mobile management entity and the user equipment through the packet switch domain. Embodiments of the present invention further provide a system for implementing a packet switch domain short message service, and a user equipment. By means of the solution of the present invention, the packet switch domain short message service can be implemented in an EPS system.
