Abstract

A fuel nozzle receiving assembly (10) is configured to be operatively connected to a fuel fill tube of a fuel inlet system of a vehicle. The assembly may include an outer body (12), a pressure relief member (20), and a sealing member (18). A pressure relief member (20) may be secured to and located within the outer body (12) and may include at least one valve (22) operatively connected to at least one relief passage. The valve is configured to open when the pressure of the fluid exceeds a pressure threshold to allow the fluid pressure to be relieved through the at least one relief passage. A sealing member (18) may be secured to the pressure relief member (20) and may define a central opening (38) configured to receive a fuel nozzle. A sealing member (18) is configured to sealingly engage the outer shaft of the fuel nozzle to prevent backflow of fuel out of the fuel fill tube and to prevent air from entering the fuel fill tube.
