Abstract

A method or system for controlling a vehicle includes entering a programming mode or a navigation mode based on user input of a switch (32). A user may enter a navigation scheme consistent with a predetermined sequence of user inputs to the switches (32), wherein readiness for each successive input is indicated by a light source (36). A navigation mode is managed for navigating the vehicle according to the entered navigation scheme. An encoder (18) or sensor may sense the steering angle of the steering system. When the system or data processor (24) is operating in a navigation mode, the steering angle is controlled according to a navigation scheme.
