The method provided by the present invention comprises: classifying applications in the terminal, and obtaining a classification result; aiming at one type of applications in the classification result, generating an energy conservation mode corresponding to the one type of applications; and determining a type of the currently running application of the terminal, and switching to the energy conservation mode corresponding to the type of the current running application. The method and the apparatus which are disclosed by present invention, are applicable to the scene that the terminal, according to the current application type, switches the energy conservation mode.
