As the petrol-electric engine is used for converting internal combustion energy into electric energy so as to supply power to an electric motor, the mileage of the vehicle can be effectively increased and electric energy can be also supplemented to the vehicle-mounted storage battery; even though the fuel is exhausted, the electric motor still can be supplied with power through the storage battery so that the vehicle can continue to run; the magnitude of the rotation speed of the electric motor is determined by output electric energy of a power generator so that stepless speed regulation can be realized; and through adoption of an internal combustion engine using less than 20 cc displacement, the petrol-electric engine vehicle can obtain power superior to the power of the traditional electric vehicle so that the energy-saving effect of the petrol-electric engine vehicle is obvious.
