Embodiment Construction

[0022] Such as figure 1 As shown, the steps of the serial port remote centralized management method for the multi-node motherboard in this embodiment include:

[0023] 1) Designate the UART port corresponding to each CPU node on the baseboard management controller BMC in advance, and connect the serial port TX / RX of each CPU node to the local serial port connector on the main board and the baseboard management controller BMC through the switch selection circuit respectively on the corresponding UART port;

[0024] 2) Implement the IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface, Intelligent Platform Management Interface) protocol in the firmware of the baseboard management controller BMC, and generate a corresponding serial port for each UART port corresponding to each CPU node after the firmware loads the UART port driver The device carries the external SOL (Serial Over Lan network-based serial port access) request for remote centralized management through the IPMI protocol,...

Abstract

The invention discloses a remote and concentrated serial port management method for a multi-node mainboard. The method comprises steps as follows: 1) UART (universal asynchronous receiver / transmitter) ports of all CPU (central processing unit) nodes are designated on a BMC (baseboard management controller) in advance, and serial ports of all the CPU nodes are connected to a local serial port connector and the designated UART ports through switch selection circuits; 2) an IPMI (intelligent platform management interface) protocol is implemented in firmware of the BMC, a corresponding serial port device is generated for one UART port corresponding to each CPU node after the firmware loads a drive program of the corresponding UART port, an external SOL (sequence operated lock) request is carried through the IPMI protocol, and interaction between an external IPMI user side and the corresponding CPU node is realized on the basis of a logic link. The mainboard does not require traditional connector output, the area of the mainboard is saved, layout is facilitated, and the cost is reduced; one BMC can manage serial ports of multiple CPU nodes and can realize simultaneous access, hardware line switching is not required, the BMC abides by the standard IPMI protocol, access can be realized through the SOL, and cables are not required.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to server management technology in the field of computers, in particular to a serial port remote centralized management method for multi-node motherboards. Background technique [0002] In modern server design, in order to meet customers' increasingly high requirements on server performance, energy consumption, and space, motherboard design becomes increasingly complex and dense. Generally, multiple (≥2) independent nodes are integrated on a single motherboard, and these nodes generally use serial ports for debugging or operation. Therefore, a better method is needed to realize the serial port access of the multi-node CPU. In order to access the serial port of a general-purpose server, the serial port output of the CPU is usually directly connected to the PC with a data cable for access. For a multi-node motherboard server, multiple sets of data cables are required. If there is a Baseboard Management Controller (BMC), it can onl...
