Embodiment Construction

[0026] will now refer to Figure 1 to Figure 2 A first embodiment of a cellular telecommunication network 1 is described. The cellular telecommunication network 1 comprises a first base station 10, a second base station 20, a third base station 30 and a fourth base station 40, wherein the first base station 10 is a macro base station and the second base station, the third base station and the fourth base station are femto base stations base station. Therefore, the macro base station has a relatively large coverage area compared to the coverage areas of the second base station, the third base station, and the fourth base station. The first base station 10, the third base station 30 and the fourth base station 40 are at a fixed geographic location, while the second base station 20 is attached to a movable train. The route of the second base station is as figure 1 , and pass through the overlapping portions of the respective coverage areas of the first base station 10 , the th...

Abstract

Cellular telecommunications network including a first and second base station, the first base station having a first interface for communicating with a first cellular core networking node and a secondinterface for wirelessly communicating with the second base station, the second base station being mobile and having a first interface for wirelessly communicating with the first base station and a second interface for communicating with a User Equipment, UE, wherein the UE's user traffic is transmitted between the first cellular core networking node and the UE via the first and second base stations, the method comprising the steps of: determining a first identity of a third base station and a second identity of a fourth base station, wherein an overlap of the third and fourth base stations'respective coverage areas cover a route of the second base station; determining a time of arrival of the second base station within the overlap; determining a first configuration parameter of the third base station and a second configuration parameter of the fourth base station in advance of the second base station's time of arrival; based on the determined first configuration parameter of the third base station, initiating a handover of the second base station to the third base station; and configuring a transmission of the second base station based on the determined second configuration parameter of the fourth base station.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to mobile base stations in cellular telecommunication networks. Background technique [0002] A cellular telecommunication network typically includes a plurality of base stations each having a coverage area for communicating with a plurality of user equipments (UEs). Traditionally, base stations have been in fixed geographic locations by being installed at specific sites or on buildings. These fixed base stations utilize local (usually wired) power and data communication interfaces to receive power and connect to the cellular core network (often called backhaul). [0003] Modern cellular telecommunication networks also provide mobile base stations. These mobile base stations are in a non-fixed geographic location and can change their location by being self-powered to move or by being installed on a movable vehicle such as a train or a car. A mobile base station also has a coverage area for communicating with multiple UEs, which...
