This check valve is disposed in a flow passage for fluid and is provided with: a seat member having a large-diameter section and a small-diameter section, which are provided at the inner periphery of the seat member, and having a seat section which is provided between the large-diameter section and the small-diameter section; a valve body pressed against the seat section to close the flow passage; and a casing having formed therein a valve chamber which contains the valve body sothat the valve body is movable in an axial direction. The large-diameter section has an inner diameter greater than the outer diameter of the valve body entering the large-diameter section in the axial direction. A clearance through which the fluid flows is provided between the large-diameter section and the valve body.
