Embodiment Construction

[0021] FIG. 1 a shows a plan view from the front of a screen 1 of a television set according to the invention, on which images are projected from three monochrome picture tubes 2 , 3 and 4 . As shown, the kinescopes 2-4 are geometrically arranged differently. Therefore, the imaging errors appearing on the screen are different for each picture tube. These image errors are corrected by means of additional correction coils which are mounted in front of the actual deflection yoke, on the coil neck of the picture tube. For each picture tube 2-4, correction is performed both horizontally and vertically, that is to say there are a total of six correction coils with associated driver circuits in the television, each of which is activated by a converging circuit. The correction coils with associated circuitry are called convergence channels, so that the television has a total of six convergence channels.

Abstract

The invention relates to a projection television set, in particular a projection television set with convergence correction. In the projection television set according to the invention, the images of three monochromatic colour picture tubes (2, 3, 4) are influenced in such a way that these attain congruence whilst avoiding geometric distortion on a screen. This influencing is achieved by a convergence device (22) which applies corresponding convergence currents to convergence deflection coils (19) arranged on the picture tubes (2, 3, 4). The convergence correction is performed using correction values stored in a RAM-Memory. When the set is switched on, these data are copied from a non-volatile memory (33) into the RAM-memory. According to the invention, the control circuit examines the copied convergence data for errors in order to ensure that no erroneous convergence data are used for convergence correction.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a projection television. More particularly, the present invention relates to a device for convergence correction in a projection television in which three monochromatic picture tubes are collectively imaged on a screen to produce a color image. For this purpose, projection televisions are equipped with convergence devices, which ensure that the individual color picture tubes are imaged without geometric distortion, while making their images as uniform as possible. For this purpose, projection televisions are equipped with convergence means, which include horizontal and vertical convergence auxiliary deflection coils for each color picture tube, which are currently applied to the existing coils by means of driver circuits, so that on the one hand geometric distortions are eliminated , on the other hand the images of all three kinescopes were made in unison. Background technique [0002] The above-menti...
