Embodiment I

[0072] Herbicidal compound 1-(2,6-dichlorophenyl)-4-(N,N-diethylcarbamoyl)-5(4H)-tetrazolinone (compound 1) and antidote compound 2,2, 5-Trimethyl-N-dichloroacetyloxazolidine (safener 1) was applied pre-emergence (rates listed in Table 1 below) containing pasteurized soil (loam:clay 2:1) flat pots in which the following species were sown: Brachiaria platyphylla ("BRAPP"); Panicum miliaceum ("PANMT"); Crabgrass (Digitaria sanguisalis) ("DIGSA"); Setaria faberi ("SETFA"); Barnyardgrass (Echinochloacrus-galli) ("ECHCG"); Corn (Zea mays) (variety "Corn GA8532"). Before planting, the soil is enriched with fertilizer (10-10-10). All compounds used were technical grade. Compounds were dissolved in 50 / 50 acetone / water solution and applied with a vehicle volume of 200 L / ha. All treatments were repeated twice.

[0073] After application, the flat pots were moved to the greenhouse and kept in good growing conditions. Plant damage was assessed 21 days after treatment ("DAT"). Injury...

Embodiment IV

[0084] The following example describes a post-emergent herbicidal screening test following flooding, with treatments similar to Example III. Plastic buckets were flooded for 24 hours prior to herbicide application.

[0085] Herbicides used Compounds 1 and 2 and 1-(2-chlorophenyl)-4-(N-ethyl-N-cyclohexylcarbamoyl)-5(4H)-tetrazolinone (Compound 3). The safeners used were safeners 3, 4 and 5 as in Example III.

[0086] The results are shown in Table 5.

[0087] deal with

[0088] It can be seen from the above data that the safener can reduce the damage of these herbicides to rice.

Abstract

The invention discloses a herbicidal composition containing tetrazolinone compounds and their detoxifying compounds. The composition can reduce the phytotoxicity caused by the tetrazolinone herbicide when used alone or mixed with other pesticide active ingredients. Damage to various crops, especially corn, wheat, rice and soybeans. Methods for reducing phytotoxicity or damage caused by tetrazolinone herbicides to crops, especially corn and soybeans, are also disclosed.

Description

field of invention [0001] This invention relates to herbicidal compositions and methods of their use, and more particularly to certain herbicidal compositions containing tetrazolinones useful as herbicides and their antidotes. Background of the invention [0002] A herbicide is a compound that controls or alters plant growth in an undesired direction, such as killing, retarding, defoliation, wilting, regulation, growth shrinkage, tillering, stimulating and dwarfing. The term "plant" refers to all parts of a plant, including seeds, seedlings, seedlings, roots, tubers, stems, petioles, leaves and fruits. "Plant growth"includes all stages of development from germination of a seed until cessation of life caused by natural or extrinsic factors. [0003] Herbicides are commonly used to control or destroy weeds. They have been met with great commercial success, as this control has been shown to increase crop yields and reduce harvesting costs. [0004] The most common methods of...
