Problems solved by technology

The main disadvantage of this structure is that it is possible for voltage peaks to exceed the maximum voltage as defined in the production process of Li-ion battery packs
[0013] A major disadvantage of this pulse charging structure is that the design requires a change in the circuit structure in order to use a dedicated AC adapter
Another disadvantage is that an external diode is required
There is also a disadvantage that the battery producers do not indicate that a voltage higher than specified can be used

[0046] exist figure 1 In the circuit diagram shown, an input resistor 101 is connected to a power supply port 102 . A second terminal of the input resistor 101 is connected to the charging switch 103 and the control unit 104 . A second terminal of the charging switch 103 is connected to a second terminal of the control unit 104 and to a first terminal 105 of the charging capacitor. A second terminal of the charging capacitor 105 is connected to ground 106 . The intersection of the second terminal of the charging switch 103 and the first terminal of the charging capacitor 105 is designated as the battery connection port 107 , which port is connected to the first terminal of the battery, ie to the first terminal of the rechargeable device 108 .

[0047] will be described next figure 1 Displays the operation of the charging device. The control unit 104 is supplied with a current reference value 109 from the second terminal of the input resistor 101 and a voltage reference v...

Abstract

The present invention provides a method of charging a rechargeable device and a charging apparatus wherein the rechargeable device is connected to a battery connection port and ground, an external DC source having an input voltage is connected to an input resistor of a charging apparatus, a current reference value and a voltage reference value are fed to a control unit, a duty cycle (d) is determined in accordance with the current reference value and the voltage reference value fed to the control unit, and using the duty cycle (d), an output voltage applied to the rechargeable device is switched between a minimum output voltage and a maximum output voltage dependent on the current reference value an the voltage reference value by means of a charging switch.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a direct current-direct current (DC-DC) converter, especially a direct current-direct current converter using an RC filter. Background technique [0002] DC-DC converters are described in detail in eg "Daniel M. Mitchell, DC-DC stitching Regulator Analysis, McGraw Hill 1988". [0003] The converter is commercially available, eg, from HN Electronic Components GmbH, Langenselbold, so its function is easily explained. Additionally, it is available from sites such as http: / / www.techno-project.de The Technoproject obtains this converter. Current DC-DC converters have many applications, for example, in combination with charging devices for mobile phones. [0004] Energy management is a fundamental problem in portable electronic devices. This problem exists in all the elements that facilitate the portability of the device and affects the durability, duration, size and weight of the device. [0005] Traditional charging e...
