[0042]The baffle plate (10) has a main body section (15) with a front face (17) and a rear face (20). A front section (25) is in an angled relationship with the main body section (15) and extends substantially along the width of the front end of the baffle plate (10). At the rear end (30) of the baffle plate (10) is a back section (35), both the front section (25) and back section (35) may be formed integrally from a single plate of material suitable for use in a combustion appliance having a combustion chamber or alternatively they may be joined to the main body section (15) by way of welding or other suitable technique.

Abstract

A baffle plate for use in a solid fuel combustion appliance having a solid fuel combustion chamber with a primary air inlet, and a primary combustion zone. The baffle plate located in the combustion chamber comprises at least one curved secondary air outlet chamber with a plurality of secondary air outlet openings located on it surface. Secondary air is then drawn into at least one secondary air inlet chamber that is fluidly connected to the at least one curved secondary air outlet chamber to provide air to the at least one curved secondary air outlet chamber where it is heated by the baffle plate and creates a secondary combustion zone within the combustion chamber.
