Next, the embodiments of the invention will be explained with references to the drawings. Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2 the liquid crystal display device of this embodiment is provided with top substrate 1 and bottom substrate 2 made of glass or a transparent resin substrate. Electrodes 3, 4 which are preferably transparent, are formed in a striped shape of an inner surface of the top substrate 1 and an inner surface bottom substrate 2.
