3 results about "Overlay multicast" patented technology

Also known as End System or Peer-to-Peer Multicast. High bandwidth multi-source multicast among widely distributed nodes is a critical capability for a wide range of applications including audio and video conferencing, multi-party games and content distribution. Throughout the last decade, a number of research projects have explored the use of multicast as an efficient and scalable mechanism to support such group communication applications. Multicast decouples the size of the receiver set from the amount of state kept at any single node and potentially avoids redundant communication in the network. The limited deployment of IP Multicast, a best effort network layer multicast protocol, has led to considerable interest in alternate approaches that are implemented at the application layer, using only end-systems. In an overlay or end-system multicast approach participating peers organize themselves into an overlay topology for data delivery. Each edge in this topology corresponds to a unicast path between two end-systems or peers in the underlying Internet.

Overlay multicast orchestration in software-defined wide area network

Examples described herein relate to a centralized overlay multicast orchestrator in a software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN). The overlay multicast orchestrator receives and maintains state information from multicast agents deployed on overlay network nodes. Based on the state information, the overlay multicast orchestrator identifies a first set of overlay network nodes connected to a source and a second set of overlay network nodes connected to hosts requesting a multicast stream. The overlay multicast orchestrator computes and distributes a multicast tree representing a path for transmission of the multicast stream to the requesting hosts.

Intelligent coverage multicast routing method fusing SDN (Software Defined Network) and target-oriented hierarchical reinforcement learning

The invention discloses an intelligent coverage multicast routing method fusing an SDN (Software Defined Network) and target-oriented hierarchical reinforcement learning, which comprises the following steps: sensing the global state of an underlying physical network in real time by utilizing an SDN controller, and decomposing a complex coverage multicast tree construction task into two collaborative hierarchical subtasks by adopting a GO-HRL algorithm; the upper-layer strategy network (target selection) is used as a high-layer intelligent agent, and the lower-layer strategy network (path planning) is used as a low-layer intelligent agent. And gradually constructing a complete coverage multicast tree through an iteration process of selecting a target at an upper layer and constructing a path at a lower layer. According to the method, global state perception and dynamic self-adaption are realized, the problem of solving high dimension and path coupling is solved, the learning efficiency and strategy stability are improved, and the comprehensive performance of the network is remarkably optimized.

Communication method in software-defined wide area networks (SD-WAN) and related apparatus

This application discloses a communication method and a related apparatus, and relates to the field of communication technologies. The method is applied to a software defined wide area network (SD-WAN) overlay network. A customer premise equipment (CPE) autonomously generates an SD-WAN overlay routing table, so that communication reliability and flexibility are improved. A route reflector (RR) specifies an overlay multicast reverse path forwarding (RPF) route to the CPE to implement SD-WAN overlay multicast communication, and the CPE does not need to perform path computation autonomously, so that a computing power requirement of the CPE is reduced. An identifier of the CPE and an identifier of a site are carried in a multicast join message to implement the SD-WAN overlay multicast communication. A standard IP header is carried in a multicast service packet to implement the SD-WAN overlay multicast communication, so that generalization, applicability, and compatibility are improved.
