This invention provides a recombinant acetyl-CoA carboxylase encoding
gene and its applications. Mutations at positions 5374, 5229, 5335, 5336, and 5493 in the recombinant acetyl-CoA carboxylase encoding
gene provided by this invention can induce more significant resistance in rice expressing this recombinant acetyl-CoA carboxylase. In particular, it shows a significant increase in resistance to seven ACCase inhibitors from three major chemically distinct classes:
arbutin (APP), quizalofop-P-ethyl, quizalofop-P-ethyl, and flupyrflupyr;
cyclohexenone (CHD), clethodim and clodinafop-P-ethyl; and neophenylpyrazoline (DEN), clodinafop-P-ethyl.
