Problems solved by technology

Due to the huge amount of video signal information, it takes up a lot of transmission bandwidth, which often causes network congestion. In particular, when a large number of users are on-demand at the same time, the downlink data often becomes slow due to insufficient bandwidth.
If the existing network is transformed, it will cost a lot of money

Embodiment Construction

[0074] The purpose of the present invention is to provide a video-on-demand network and an on-demand method that uses QAM equipment and an HFC network to separate uplink data and downlink data. Apply the low-cost HFC network to the video-on-demand network. According to the present invention, a video-on-demand network is provided. QAM equipment and HFC network are used between the IP-based backbone network and the STB. The upstream data sent by the STB to the IP-based backbone network uses IP network channels. The IP-based backbone network The downlink data sent by the STB uses the radio frequency channel of the HFC network.

Abstract

The invention discloses a video-on-demand network, which employs QAM equipment and HFC network between an IP-based backbone network and a set-top box (STB). The STB sends uplink data to the IP-based backbone network via an IP network channel, and the IP-based backbone network sends down-link data to the STB via a radio-frequency channel of the HFC network. The invention also discloses a video-on-demand method. With the inventive technical proposal, the HFC network based on radio frequency (RF) data transmission can transmit down-link data with large data volume via the radio frequency with relatively-larger bandwidth resource, to solve the congestion problem of the down-link data. Contrarily, the up-link data with smaller data volume are transmitted based on the IP protocol. The inventionavoids the large-scale reconstruction of the existing network, saves the cost, and can efficiently improve the use experience of the user.

Description

Technical field [0001] The present invention relates to the technical field of video-on-demand networks, and more specifically, to a video-on-demand network and an on-demand method that uses QAM equipment and an HFC network to separate uplink data and downlink data. Background technique [0002] Video-on-demand is an emerging industry with broad market prospects. At present, the commonly used video-on-demand network is an IP-based video-on-demand network, and both upstream and downstream data are transmitted on the IP network using the IP protocol. Because the video signal has a huge amount of information and occupies a lot of transmission bandwidth, it often causes network congestion. Especially, when a large number of users are on-demand at the same time, the downlink data often becomes slow due to insufficient bandwidth. If the existing network is modified, it will cost a lot of costs. [0003] Further analysis of the business traffic of the video-on-demand service shows that t...
