Embodiment 1

[0070]Ten different materials were tested, 5 different types of stainless steel and 5 nickel based alloys expected to be of high quality from a corrosion point of view. Two types of samples were fabricated from each material. One type of sample had the following dimensions: length = 150mm, width = 40mm and thickness 2.5mm. A drill hole with a diameter of 12mm is recessed centrally 30mm from one of the short sides. 60mm from the other short side, apply a weld. Samples of the second type had the following dimensions: length = 80mm, width 20mm and thickness 2.5mm. At a certain distance from the two short sides, a respective hole with a diameter of 10 mm is recessed centrally. The distance between the centers of the two holes is 50mm. Next, the planar rectangular samples were bent together so as to form a U shape. The first mentioned planar samples and the U-shaped samples were degreased. After carefully weighing each of the samples, they were placed on a rig consisting of t...

Abstract

The present invention relates to the use of a comparatively cheap material for the containment of at least a strongly acidic mineral acid solution highly diluted with water, by means of which saccharides are extracted from lignocellulose material by hydrolysis at a temperature of 175-240 DEG C and a pressure of 6-34 bar (0.6-14 MPa) as well as a time of 1-60 minutes and is characterized in that the material comprises, in addition to iron in an amount greater than any other individual substance and usually at least 50 % by weight, at least chromium in an amount of 10.5-30 % by weight, nickel in an amount of 2.5-29 % by weight, and molybdenum in an amount of 0-7 % by weight. The invention also relates to an apparatus.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to the use of a relatively inexpensive material in a device for the extraction of sugars from lignocellulosic material by hydrolysis. In the present invention, hydrolysis refers to extraction of a specific substance from a material by a liquid acid at a specific temperature and a specific pressure, and within a specific time, ie, it involves acidic hydrolysis. The types of acids of practical significance in hydrolysis are strong mineral acids and sulfur dioxide (SO 2 ), which is added to the aqueous solution in gaseous form. Commonly used inorganic acids are sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid and nitric acid. The lignocellulosic material may be any known such material. A major one of the lignocellulosic materials is the wood of deciduous and coniferous trees. A large number of other plants are also included in the lignocellulosic material concept, such as bagasse, straw, hemp and corn stover. (Lignocellulose-based) materi...
