Abstract

The invention relates to a split tailgate (1) for a vehicle. Said tailgate (1) comprises an upper part (2), which is pivotably arranged on the body (3), and a lower part (10), which is pivotably arranged on the upper part (2). Said tailgate (1) also has a first device (6) for coupling the upper part (2) of the tailgate (1) to the body (3) for a first opening position of the tailgate, and a second device (13) for coupling the upper part (2) and the lower part (10) of the tailgate to form a unit for a second opening position of the tailgate, wherein the lower part (10) of the tailgate has a lock (14).; To provide a tailgate which ensures an opening mechanism which is simple for an operator to use, it is provided that the lower part (10) of the tailgate has a transmission element (20) which transmits a pressure force F0, which is applied to the lower part (2) of the tailgate in the first opening position thereof, to a contact element (24) which acts on the first coupling device (6).
