Abstract

The invention provides a dynamic beacon interval (BI) design method based on a wireless multimedia sensor networks enhanced distributed channel access (EDCA) mechanism. The invention has the advantages that: the method is applied to wireless multimedia sensor networks, the characteristics of different data traffic are completely utilized, corresponding BIs are designed according to different types of data; on one hand, collision between high priority traffic sensitive to time such as audio streams and video streams and low priority traffic, which is generated during channel competition, can be reduced, more chances of accessing channel can be acquired, so that energy waste caused by the collision can be effectively reduced, network power consumption is reduced, meanwhile, data is continuously transmitted by using a transmission opportunity (TXOP) mechanism after entering a channel, so that the network throughput rate is greatly improved, and network time delay is effectively reduced; and on the other hand, the network power consumption can be effectively reduced by increasing the sleep time of transmitting nodes of the low priority traffic such as E-mail which is not sensitive to the time, and user experience cannot be influenced simultaneously; in addition, the data volume of the low priority traffic is small, so that the influence of low priority traffic on the network throughput and time delay is low.
