Abstract

The invention discloses a method, a route bridge and a system for transmitting a message, which are applied to the technical field of communication and aim to reduce signaling overhead in a transparent interconnection of lots of links (TRILL) network. The method comprises the following steps that: a first intermediate route bridge (RB) receives a nickname (Nickname) of an edge RB transmitted by a second intermediate RB; the first intermediate RB constructs an address notification message, wherein the address notification message comprises a virtual internet protocol (IP) address of the first intermediate RB and a virtual media access control (MAC) address; the first intermediate RB transmits the address notification message to the edge RB according to the Nickname of the edge RB, so that the edge RB transmits a free address resolution protocol (ARP) message to a server which accesses the TRILL network through the edge RB after the edge RB receives the address notification message, wherein the ARP message comprises the corresponding relation between the virtual MAC address and the virtual IP address.
