The breeding method comprises the following steps of: (1) hybridizing waxy corn varieties including the Beijing sweet and purple waxy corn No. 2 used as a female parent with the Jiangsu waxy corn No. 5 used as a male parent to obtain a hybrid cluster, and selfing a Beijing sweet and purple waxy corn No. 2 single plant to obtain a selfed cluster; (2) selecting and reserving a purple corn seed from the hybrid cluster, planting the selected corn seed to obtain a female parent, and hybridizing the female parent with a male parent which is obtained by planting a purple seed which is selected from the selfed cluster to obtain hybrid seeds; and (3) planting the hybrid seeds, bagging, selfing the plants, selecting and reserving purple seeds continuously, planting the selected purple seeds, selecting superior individual plants by combining the stress resistance and qualitative characters, and selfing 4-5 generations of the superior individual plants continuously to breed a stable purple waxy corn inbred line ZN-01.
