Embodiment Construction

[0031] A head for an oral care implement according to the present disclosure includes at least one tuft extending from a mounting surface of the head and having an outer region. In the context of the present disclosure, the term "outer region" refers to the outer side surface of the tuft other than the base / bottom and top surface of the tuft. The tufts may have a circular or non-circular cross-section (the cross-section is perpendicular to the length extension of the tuft) and is defined by an outer region thereof. For example, the cross-sectional shape may be oval, square, rectangular, triangular, cross-shaped, or it may be oblong with flattened sides, although other shapes are also contemplated. The cross-section of the tufts may have a width of about 2mm to about 4mm and a depth of about 2mm to about 4mm.

[0032] The tuft includes a first set of filaments having a first side region, and a second set of filaments having a second side region. The filaments of the first gro...

Abstract

A head for an oral care implement is disclosed, the head including at least one tuft extending from a mounting surface of the head and having an outer region. The tuft has a first set of filaments defining a first side region, and at least a second set of filaments defining a second side region. The first set of filaments has a first length and the second set of filaments has a second length, wherein the first length is different from the second length. The outer region of the cluster consists of at least a portion of the first side region and at least a portion of the second side region.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to a head for an oral care implement, and in particular to such a head comprising at least one tuft of filaments of different types. Background technique [0002] Tufts of multiple filaments are well known in the art for oral care implements such as manual and powered toothbrushes. Generally, the cluster is attached to a mounting surface of the head intended to be inserted into the user's mouth. A grip is usually attached to the head, which handle is held by the user during brushing. The head is permanently attached or reattachable to and detachable from the handle. [0003] It is known that the filaments forming a tuft generally have substantially the same size and properties. While toothbrushes comprising these types of tufts adequately clean the outer buccal surfaces of the teeth, they are not well suited to adequately remove plaque and debris from the gum margins, interdental areas, lingual surfaces, and other hard...
