Problems solved by technology

[0003] Razor's pivot function occasionally performs suboptimally
Typically, the cause can be attributed to the pivot turning becoming stuck or otherwise unable to move or damaged, or other interference of the connecting member with the razor cartridge housing

Embodiment Construction

[0020] The novel linking member structure of the present invention having multiple ramps in at least one of the fingers of the linking member arm improves the control and functionality of the pivoting mechanism while still providing ease of manufacture and in turn greater flexibility for the consumer. What a joyful operational experience.

[0021] The present invention focuses on the novel structure of the arm fingers and generally does not describe how to make the new connection structure or how to fit it to the blade unit.

[0022] As used herein, the term "bevel" means a cut in material that is generally at an angle of less than 90 degrees to an adjacent major face. The term "bevel" may generally be referred to as a hypotenuse, and as such, these terms may be considered equivalent and / or interchangeable.

[0023] The term "connecting member" as used herein means the structure ultimately used to connect or attach the blade unit to the handle. Such components may be of simi...

Abstract

A connecting member (30) of a razor is shown to have a plurality of chamfers (42, 44) on at least one finger (36, 38) disposed at an end of an arm (34, 35). Desirably, both arms have two chamfers on each finger. Each chamfer is disposed having an angle to a top surface of the finger. Though any angles are contemplated in the present invention, the angle of the first chamfer is desirably smaller than the angle of the second chamfer. The bearing length of the finger and the first chamfer angle are together desirably balanced to provide an optimal clearance for the fingers into openings on either end of the back of the housing and improve the pivot operation and control for the user.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to connecting members for razor cartridges, and more particularly to structures on the members. Background technique [0002] In many current razors, the blade unit or razor cartridge is either indirectly connected to the handle via a connecting member or connected directly to the handle via a connecting member integral with the handle. The connecting member generally has a pair of arms which are connected to the blade unit and which in many cases allow the blade unit to pivot about an axis relative to the connecting member. Similarly, in many razors that do not have such a separate connecting member, (e.g., a disposable razor or a system razor having a handle with an integrated connecting member in the upper portion) a pair of arms is also typically present on the upper portion of the handle An axis that is used to connect the handle to the blade unit and, in many cases, allows the blade unit to pivot relative to the han...
