Abstract

The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for producing synthetic staple fibers. Firstly, a plurality of fiber slivers are produced during the melt-spinning process and are laid together as tows in cans. Subsequently, during fiber processing, several of the tows are withdrawn as one fiber tow from cans, crimped and cut into staple fibers. Here, the can with the deposited tow is transported from the deposit station of the melt-spinning process to the can creel of the fiber texturing process. In order to obtain as uniform a fiber quality as possible when temporarily storing the tow in the can, the can performs a linear translational movement for filling and during filling with the tow. For this purpose, the device according to the invention has a conveying element, by means of which the cans are moved linearly in translation for filling and during filling.
