Abstract

The invention relates to the field of oscillators and discloses a system and method for effectively utilizing the output frequency of a voltage-controlled oscillator. The system for effectively utilizing the output frequency of the voltage-controlled oscillator comprises a low-pass filter used for filtering a higher harmonic component of the output frequency; a phase discriminator used for realizing synchronous phase reference of the output frequency and input reference signal frequency; a loop filter used for filtering phase discrimination stray; and a high-pass filter used for filtering a lower harmonic component of the output frequency, wherein the voltage-controlled oscillator, the low-pass filter, the phase discriminator and the loop filter are connected in sequence to form a closed loop; and an output end of the voltage-controlled oscillator is further connected with an input end of the high-pass filter. By adoption of the system and method for effectively utilizing the output frequency of the voltage-controlled oscillator, the second harmonic and the fundamental wave can be used at the same time without affecting the circuit performance, and meanwhile, the fundamental frequency of the VCO can be reduced, the frequency division ratio can be reduced, and the working frequency of the circuit can be effectively improved.
