Abstract

The invention relates to an algorithm for judging the degree of concentration of students in class. In the invention, an image is firstly taken by a camera commonly used in a classroom, human face detection is performed using the existing Matlab based on a Viola-Jones algorithm to obtain human facial features, and eyes are the facial features that most directly reflect the degree of concentrationof students in class. In the invention, the use of a nose as an auxiliary reference area takes into account that centers of the two eyes and the position of tip of nose can be approximated as a triangle. The human facial features are selected as reference objects to convert a three-dimensional space of a human face into a two-dimensional plane, so that the degree of concentration of the students can be judged faster. Finally, according to various statuses of the students in class, the degree of concentration of the students in class is determined by using three methods which are an algorithm for judging the degree of concentration of the students via side faces, an algorithm for judging the degree of concentration of the students with the head lowered (lifted), and an algorithm for judgingthe degree of concentration of the students through the opening degree of eyes.
