Problems solved by technology

If the deviation between the injection amount and the optimum value becomes large, the pre-designed refractive index of the liquid crystal display element and the balance of the driving electric field will be destroyed, and display defects such as unevenness and poor contrast will occur.
Especially with regard to the small liquid crystal display elements commonly used in the recently popular smartphones, since the optimal liquid crystal injection amount is small, it is difficult to control the deviation from the optimal value within a certain range

[0811] (Example 1, Comparative Examples 1-3)

[0812] The liquid crystal composition of the present invention and a liquid crystal display device using the composition were produced, and their physical properties were measured.

[0813] [Table 1]

[0814]

[0815] Compared with Example 1, Comparative Example 1 is to replace the compound represented by the general formula (i) with the compound represented by the similar formula (M-7.12) of the structure, and replace the compound represented by the general formula (ii) with the structure A composition obtained by a compound represented by a similar formula (M-4.2). As a result, Tni is greatly reduced.

Abstract

The present invention addresses the problem of providing: a composition having a positive [delta][allele], having a wide temperature-range liquid crystal phase, having low viscosity, having good solubility at low temperature, having high resistivity and a high voltage holding ratio, and being stable relative to light and heat; and an IPS-type, TN-type, or similar liquid crystal display element that, as a result of using said composition, has excellent display quality and is unlikely to have display defects such as ghosting or drip marks, said liquid crystal display element being provided at ahigh yield. The present invention provides: the composition containing at least one type of compound indicated by general formula (i), at least one type of compound indicated by general formula (ii),and either a compound indicated by formula (L-1-1.3) or a compound indicated by formula (L-1-2.2) or both; a liquid crystal display element using said composition; and an IPS element or FFS element using said composition.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a composition having a positive dielectric constant anisotropy (Δε) useful as a liquid crystal display material, and a liquid crystal display element using the same. Background technique [0002] Liquid crystal display components have developed from being used in clocks and electronic calculators to various measuring instruments, automotive panels, word processors, electronic notepads, printers, computers, televisions, clocks, advertising display boards, etc. Typical liquid crystal display methods include TN (twisted nematic) type, STN (super twisted nematic) type, vertical alignment type using TFT (thin film transistor), and IPS (in-plane switching) type. The liquid crystal composition used in these liquid crystal display elements is required to be stable against external stimuli such as moisture, air, heat, and light, and to display a liquid crystal phase in as wide a temperature range as possible around room temperat...
