Embodiment Construction

[0028] best practice

[0029] Referring now to the drawings, in which like parts are labeled with like numerals, a first embodiment of the insect baiting device of the present invention is shown in FIG. 1 , generally designated 10 . The insect bait device 10 is designed and used for reptile insects such as cockroaches and ants, but is not limited thereto. The dimensions of the parts described below are specified for an insect, assuming that the type and size of the insect are known.

[0030]The bait device 10 has a base 12 and a cover 14, the cover is fixed on the base. Both base 12 and cover 14 are integral pieces, preferably made of plastic, by thermoforming, injection molding or other methods of making thin walled plastic parts familiar to those skilled in the art.

[0031] Base 12 includes a bait cup 16, best seen in FIG. The bait cup 16 serves as a container for selected bait (not shown). The various types of baits suitable for use with bait set 10 are well known to t...

Abstract

A bait device for reptile insects and a method for providing bait for the attracted insects. The bait device (10) includes a base (12), and a cover mounted on the base. The base (12) has a bait cup (16) having a bait cup wall. Lateral supports project upward from the bait cup wall. Lid (14) has a housing (30), and it forms the channel (34) in the middle of housing wall (32) and bait cup wall (20). The housing (30) also includes a top surface (40) spanning the space enclosed by the housing walls (32), the top surface (40) being supported by lateral supports. The front chamber is formed on one side by the lateral supports and on the other side by the housing wall. The bottom plate of the front chamber is connected with the bottom plate of the channel. An antechamber door in the housing wall communicates with the antechamber to allow entry of the baited insects and is positioned such that linear passage through the antechamber door into the bait cup is limited by lateral supports. The antechamber allows the side supports to be a sufficient width away from the housing wall to provide a space for baited insects to pass through the antechamber door, into the passageway and around the side supports into the bait set to reach any bait in the bait cup. The method of the present invention comprises providing such a bait set, placing a selected bait in a bait cup, and placing the bait set on a surface on which the baited insect is to crawl.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention generally relates to the field of insect baiting devices. More particularly, the present invention relates to insect baiting devices suitable for use with reptile insects. Background technique [0002] This technology mainly relates to an insect bait device for reptile insects, which has a base with structures of various shapes, and a cover straddling these structures to form a closed bait device. Such examples include U.S. Patent No. 4,536,836 to Woodruff et al.; U.S. Patent No. 4,894,947 to Brandli; U.S. Patent No. 5,048,225 to Brandli; U.S. Patent No. 4,485,582 to Morris; U.S. Patent No. Des. 306,895 to Mares; U.S. Patent No. Des. 326890; U.S. Patent No. 4,782,612 to Wissman; U.S. Patent No. 4,793,093 to Gentile; U.S. Patent No. 4,823,506 to Demarest et al.; U.S. Patent No. 4,837,969 to Demarest; .The above list is not comprehensive, this is a very active technology field.
