Abstract

The invention discloses a system and a method for measuring the loss and the absorption of an optical fiber. The system comprises a broadband light source, an optical switch, a first controller, an optical fiber combiner, a multi-mode optical fiber, and a spectrometer. The signal end of the optical fiber combiner is connected to the first output end of the optical switch. The pump end of the optical fiber combiner is connected to the second output end of the optical switch. One end of the multi-mode optical fiber is connected to one end of the optical fiber to be measured. The other end of themulti-mode optical fiber is connected to the spectrometer. The other end of the optical fiber to be measured is used for being connected to the output end of the optical fiber combiner. The first controller is connected to the control end of the optical switch. The signal light output by the broadband light source passes through the optical switch, and is selected by the first controller to be output from the first output end of the optical switch, and then injected into the signal end of the optical fiber combiner, or output from the second output end of the optical switch, and then injectedinto the pump end of the optical fiber combiner. The optical signal is injected into the optical fiber to be measured after passing through the optical fiber combiner, and is received by the spectrometer through the multi-mode optical fiber.
