The power consumption forecasting method comprises the steps of S1, metering power consumption in the finish rolling process through a power consumption metering instrument of a finish rolling segment to obtain the power consumption value of the finish rolling segment; S2, analyzing influence factors related to the power consumption of the rolling pieces through principal component analysis, and simplifying input parameters ofa prediction model; reducing the input data dimensionality to principal component space, and representing the main change information of the power consumption through extraction of the features of theprincipal component space; performing training and establishment of power consumption prediction model for the rolling pieces of multiple specifications according to the finish rolling power consumption data and the specification data after principal component analysis; and S3, finally achieving the power consumption predicted value of the finish rolling segment of a certain type of steel under the conditions of setting different working parameters. According to the method, the power consumption predicted value of a certain type of steel under the conditions of different set working parameters is obtained through the prediction model, and compared and analyzed, and the phenomenon that the power consumption is out of limits is avoided effectively; and the guiding significance is provided for optimization of technological parameters.
